Schoolchildren welcome Operation MAIDA BUURI patrols in Bawku

As personnel of the Joint Task Force, Operation MAIDA BUURI, conducted a Territorial Control Operation in Bawku, groups of schoolchildren lined the streets, waving enthusiastically and chanting in unison.

The warm reception offered by the children reflected the community’s desire for peace and a return to normal life. Their spontaneous expressions of support underscored the hopes of families who have long yearned for stability and security in Bawku.

The Territorial Control Operation forms part of ongoing efforts to restore normalcy and strengthen security across the Bawku General Area. The coordinated exercise involved street patrols, confidence-building patrols and show-of-force activities across various communities.

According to military authorities, the operations are intended to protect residents, reassure communities and create a safe environment for people to resume their daily activities.

The authorities said sustained peace requires the collective commitment of security agencies, traditional leaders and residents, as well as continued efforts to build trust between security personnel and civilians.

The reception from the schoolchildren, they noted, serves as a reminder of the importance of creating a peaceful environment where children and families can go about their daily lives without fear.
