Police arrest 14 suspects over alleged narcotic drug cultivation in Nabdam
The Upper East Regional Police Command has apprehended 14 individuals suspected of engaging in the cultivation and supply of narcotic substances at Daliga in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.
The suspects were arrested on Sunday, August 16, 2026, following an intelligence-driven operation carried out by personnel from the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in collaboration with the newly established Black Cobra Team.
The individuals identified by the Police are Alex Nyaaba, Charles Keleg Dombil, Zimi Pandam, Jennifer Ziini, Tobirr Naab, Yinteng James, Tosil Wandabil, Sandanane Peehim, Borimi Nohoo, Curim Teng, Curim Kugri, Nohou Dagobila and Abane Zangbeog.
During a search conducted as part of the operation, the Police reportedly uncovered a substantial quantity of suspected narcotic substances hidden inside sacks containing millet and maize.
Initial findings from the investigation suggest that the suspected Indian hemp was being cultivated alongside food crops, including millet and maize, in an apparent attempt to disguise the farms and prevent law enforcement agencies from detecting the illegal plantations.
The Police further suspect that the arrested individuals serve as key sources of narcotic substances for several drug dealers operating in different parts of the Upper East Region.
All 14 suspects remain in Police custody as investigations continue.
The Police Command said the suspects will be processed and arraigned before the court to face the applicable charges and answer for the alleged offences in accordance with the law.
