Police Commander visits Ahafo Ano South West DCE, pledges more personnel
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Osei Akoto Arthur, has paid a working visit to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West District, Mr Abubakar Sedik, to strengthen collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the District Assembly in promoting peace and security.
The visit, which took place on Tuesday, provided an opportunity for the Regional Police Command and the District Assembly to discuss security concerns in the district and explore ways to deepen cooperation between the two institutions.
COP Osei Akoto Arthur commended Mr Abubakar Sedik for his continued support for the Ghana Police Service's activities and operations in the district. He acknowledged the important role played by the Assembly in creating an enabling environment for the Police to discharge its mandate effectively.
The Regional Commander assured the DCE that the Police Service remained committed to working closely with the Assembly and other stakeholders to maintain law and order and safeguard residents and businesses across the district.
In response, Hon. Abubakar Sedik commended the District Police Commander and his Second-in-Command for their dedication, professionalism and efforts to maintain peace and security in the district.
He praised the Police Command for its prompt response to security concerns and assured the Regional Commander of the Assembly's continued support for initiatives aimed at improving security in the district.
A key issue discussed during the meeting was the need for adequate staff accommodation for police personnel in the district.
The District Police Command informed the DCE of its intention to construct police quarters to provide decent accommodation for personnel and enhance the operational effectiveness of the Command.
Hon. Abubakar Sedik pledged the Assembly's support for the proposed project and expressed his readiness to work with the Police Service to explore ways of making the construction of the quarters a reality.
The Regional Police Commander, in turn, indicated that the provision of adequate staff accommodation would enhance the Police Service's ability to deploy additional personnel to the district.
He therefore assured the DCE that more police personnel would be posted to the district once the staff quarters were constructed.
The move is expected to strengthen security coverage and improve policing across communities in the Ahafo Ano South West District.
The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including ACP Francis Somia, Second-in-Command; ACP Opoku Koduah, Regional Operations Commander; Supt. Kwame Boadi, MTTD Commander; ASP Augustine Antwi, Staff Officer; ACP Mrs Eunice Annor, Tepa Divisional Police Commander; ASP Gordon Ahiafor, Regional Public Relations Officer; ASP Prosper, 2IC, Mankranso; and ASP Ohenewaa Christiana, District Crime Officer, Mankranso.
Also present were the Presiding Member of the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, Hon. Paul Conscious Amagboe, and Mr Thomas Agyekum.
The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of the District Assembly and the Ghana Police Service to working together to create a safer and more secure environment for residents and businesses in the Ahafo Ano South West District.
