Okoe-Boye will win NPP more seats in Greater Accra – Bawumia

The 2028 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed confidence that the newly elected Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye, will help the party win more parliamentary seats in the region.

Dr Okoe-Boye, a former Minister of Health and former Member of Parliament, defeated his opponent in the NPP’s Greater Accra Regional executive elections held on Saturday, August 15.

He has pledged to restore the party’s electoral strength in the region as part of efforts to position the NPP to return to power in 2028.

Speaking when Dr Okoe-Boye and other newly elected regional executives called on him on Sunday, August 16, Dr Bawumia said he was confident in the new chairman’s ability to deliver more seats for the party.

“I know Dr Okoe-Boye very well. We are very good friends. He's a good man. He's a unifier, and he's very humble. If you know him, and I believe that he is going to really bring us a lot of seats in Greater Accra,” he said.

Dr Bawumia said the new regional executives had an important task ahead of them, particularly in uniting members after the internal elections.

He urged those who contested the elections to put their differences aside and work together for the success of the party.

The former Vice President said the ongoing reorganisation of the NPP is aimed at strengthening the party from the grassroots to the national level ahead of the 2028 elections.

Dr Bawumia said the party’s success in 2028 would depend largely on its ability to unite and harness the talents of all its members.

“If we are united, I'm telling you, we will win 2028. Unity is the key ingredient for victory,” he said.
