Ejisu MP rolls out major community intervention with solar lights, sanitation bins and sports kits

The Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Boateng, has intensified his community development drive with a fresh intervention aimed at improving security, sanitation and youth development in Onwe and Essieninpong.

The MP on Friday donated 60 solar-powered streetlight bulbs to the two communities, with each receiving 30 bulbs, as part of efforts to improve visibility and enhance security after dark.

In addition to the streetlights, each community received a large refuse collection bin, two sets of football jerseys and a football.

Mr. Boateng also presented GH¢2,000 to support the installation and wiring of the streetlights.

The items were presented separately during town hall meetings organised by the MP in Onwe and Essieninpong.

Streetlights to improve night security

Addressing residents, Mr. Boateng said the solar-powered streetlights were intended to illuminate the communities at night and improve visibility.

He explained that better lighting would enable residents to move around more safely after dark while helping to make the communities less vulnerable to criminal activities.

The MP pledged to extend the streetlight initiative to more communities, particularly areas where poor night visibility remains a concern.

Major push for improved sanitation
Sanitation also featured prominently in the intervention, with each of the beneficiary communities receiving a large refuse collection bin.

Mr. Boateng said the provision of the bins was intended to promote proper waste disposal and discourage indiscriminate dumping.

He disclosed that each of the large refuse collection bins costs between GH¢55,000 and GH¢60,000.

According to him, he has so far donated 20 refuse collection bins to 20 communities within the constituency and intends to extend the initiative to other communities facing sanitation challenges.

Boost for grassroots football
The MP's intervention also included support for youth football development.

He explained that the football jerseys and football presented to the communities were aimed at supporting young people and helping to identify and nurture emerging football talents.

Mr. Boateng said he recognised the passion for football among the youth and was committed to creating opportunities for promising talents to develop.

He further pledged to provide additional support, particularly more solar-powered streetlights, as part of efforts to improve night visibility across the constituency.

MP promises more development projects
Mr. Boateng used the town hall meetings to outline some of the development initiatives being pursued in the Ejisu Constituency.

He assured residents of his commitment to undertaking more projects to improve living conditions and transform Ejisu into an enviable constituency.

He said his development vision for the constituency was broad and that several additional projects were being planned.

The MP appealed to traditional leaders and residents to continue supporting his efforts with their prayers and cooperation.

He also called on traditional leaders to pray for him and support his continued political leadership so that he could remain in a position to pursue his development agenda.

Essieninpong leadership commends MP
At Essieninpong, the Benkumhene, Nana Obeng Sika, who represented the Chief of the community, Nana Kwaku Appiah Onwanwani, expressed appreciation to the MP for the intervention.

He commended Mr. Boateng for responding to the needs of the community and for outlining plans to support its further development.

Nana Obeng Sika also appealed to NPP delegates to continue supporting the MP and work towards retaining him in office.

He urged the delegates to remain loyal and avoid what he described as a hypocritical approach to party politics, stressing the need for unity and consistent support for their parliamentary candidate.

The latest intervention forms part of Mr. Boateng's continued engagement with communities across the Ejisu Constituency, with security, sanitation, youth development and infrastructure remaining key areas of focus.
