Health Ministry Kicks Off Mid‑Year Review of NDC Manifesto Health Promises in Ho
The Ministry of Health has commenced a three‑day mid‑year review of government’s flagship healthcare commitments contained in the NDC’s 2024 Manifesto.
The exercise, which opened in Ho on Saturday, August 15, 2026, is being led by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and brings together heads of agencies, institutions and programmes under the Ministry.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, the review is aimed at assessing progress, identifying bottlenecks and strengthening implementation of key health sector pledges.
Focus areas include Free Primary Healthcare, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCare), expansion of the NHIS, retooling of health facilities and the rollout of specialised nursing programmes.
“All heads of agencies and programmes under the Ministry will present updates on their respective areas, highlighting achievements, challenges and measures required to accelerate implementation,” the statement noted.
The Ministry will also evaluate progress on regional hospitals in the six newly created regions, cataract centres, nursing trainee allowances, recruitment of health professionals and the completion of abandoned health projects.
Participants will additionally undergo training in Public Financial Management to enhance efficient use of public resources and strengthen accountability.
The Ministry says the review is intended to ensure that government’s healthcare commitments are effectively delivered to improve access to quality, affordable and equitable healthcare nationwide.
