Abronye retains Bono NPP Chairmanship in Regional Executive Elections

Kwame Baffoe Abronye has retained his position as Chairman of the Bono Regional branch of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), after securing a decisive victory in the party’s regional executive elections held at the GNAT Hostel at Baakoniaba, near Sunyani.

Mr Abronye polled 201 votes to beat his closest challenger, Yaw Afful, who obtained 44 votes. Joseph Mensah polled 31 votes, while Afari Gyan and Kwabena Oppong recorded no votes.

Kate Amponsah Agyare was elected First Vice-Chairperson, polling 252 votes against Peter Boampong Asomah’s 29 votes.

The Second Vice-Chairperson position went to Kwaku Antwi Agyei, who secured 123 votes. Issa Issaka polled 89 votes, while Kwadwo Agyekum obtained 68 votes.

Kofi Ofosu Boateng also retained his position as Regional Secretary, polling 187 votes against Ebenezer Asare Baffour’s 93 votes.

Randy Ashraf Issahaku was elected Deputy Secretary with 145 votes, narrowly defeating Stephen Opuni, who polled 135 votes. One ballot was rejected.

In the Women’s Organiser contest, Samira Sulley secured 142 votes to defeat Doris Asomah, who polled 139 votes.

Dauda Ibrahim Bamba emerged as the Youth Organiser, polling 102 votes. He was followed by Shadrach Abrefah Mensah with 92 votes, Joeffrey Kwarteng Brobbey with 58 votes and Alhaji Baba Suwari with 29 votes.

Faisal Osman Mohammed won the Nasara Organiser position with 177 votes, beating Wahab Bashiru, who obtained 101 votes. Two ballots were rejected.

Veronica Tuffour was elected Treasurer, securing 131 votes, followed by Henry Osei with 124 votes and Kassim Siaka with 25 votes.

Abdul Razak Oppong won the Organiser position with a commanding 229 votes against Darlington Bill Boampong’s 52 votes.

Fahd Osman emerged as the Communications Officer, polling 170 votes to defeat Abubakari Yakubu, who obtained 111 votes.

The election results give Mr Abronye and his newly elected team a fresh mandate to lead the NPP in the Bono Region as the party prepares to strengthen its structures and organisation ahead of the next general elections.

The Deputy Bono Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Kennedy Opoku, led a team from his outfit to supervise the elections and witnessed by several party big-wigs including the Jaman South Member of Parliament, Col (rtd) Kwadwo Damoah.
