NPP Northern Regional elections: ‘No one can bribe or influence us’ – Election Committee assures delegates

Members of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Northern Regional Election Committee will not be influenced to favour any candidate in the ongoing regional executive elections, a committee member Salifu Saeed has assured delegates.

Mr Saeed, who is in charge of security operations, said the committee was structured to ensure an impartial and credible election.

He noted that the committee includes the NPP National Director of Elections, Evans Nimako, and other experienced members.

Regional executives were excluded from the committee to strengthen its independence, he said.

Speaking to the media at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, where the elections are being held, Mr Saeed said: “We are not using any regional executive to be part of the committee. So nobody can bribe us. Nobody can convince us to do something to favour candidate B or aspirant C. No, we are here to ensure that the credibility of ourselves, the credibility of the party, the integrity of Northern Region is highly protected.”

He added that the committee was determined to make the Northern Regional elections one of the best-conducted polls across the 16 regions.

Mr Saeed, who is also Political Advisor to NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, urged the media to closely monitor the process and report any suspicious activity that could undermine the elections.

He also appealed to aspirants, supporters, observers, the media and security personnel to cooperate with the committee to ensure a peaceful and orderly exercise.

Delegates are voting to elect regional executives, including the Regional Chairman, First and Second Vice Chairpersons, Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Communications Officer and Nasara Coordinator.
