Better Roads Will Ease Movement and Improve the Quality of Life for Our People – Nkoranza South MCE
The Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly held its Second Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Assembly on Wednesday, 5th August 2026, at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall. The meeting was presided over by Hon. Adjei Siakwan Eric, who also serves as the Assembly Member for the Asuano/Barnofour Electoral Area.
In his welcome address, Hon. Siakwan Eric appealed to members for cooperation and support to enable him to steer the affairs of the meeting effectively for the development of the Municipality. He urged members to contribute meaningfully to discussions to ensure progress in their respective electoral areas.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Nkoranza South, Hon. Godfred Dapaa, in his opening remarks, welcomed members and provided clarity on the legal action taken against the Assembly by some aggrieved natives of Nkoranza following the correction of an earlier allocation of newly constructed lockable stores at the Nkoranza New Market.
He explained that Mr. Adu Appiah and eleven others filed a judicial review application at the Techiman High Court, placing an injunction on the allocation of the stores pending the final determination of the case. After examining the law and the facts, the judge ruled in favour of the Assembly and dismissed the injunction application. Hon. Dapaa noted that this positive outcome strengthens the Assembly’s position in the main case and affirms that due process was followed.
Peace and Security
Hon. Dapaa commended the Ghana Police Service for its efforts in improving peace and security in the Municipality. He highlighted the Police Service’s continued intelligence-led operations, visibility policing, town and highway patrols, snap checks, and community engagements. These interventions, he said, have helped prevent crime and maintain public safety.
Other Key Issues
The MCE also addressed matters relating to agriculture, education, the construction of the long-abandoned Nkoranza Community Centre, the commissioning of the DVLA office, ongoing town road construction, and the payment of Assembly Members’ allowances.
MP’s Update on Roads and Electrification
The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel K. Agyekum, informed the house that Parliament has approved the construction and tarring of selected roads within the Municipality. He also announced plans to extend electricity to additional communities.
He assured members that the Nkoranza–Techiman road will be redesigned and reconstructed next year. According to him, engineers are already on the ground conducting assessments to redesign the road. He added that all sharp curves and slopes will be corrected to ensure safer and easier movement.
Hon. Agyekum urged Assembly Members, Nananom, and all citizens of Nkoranza to collaborate for the development of the Municipality. He emphasized that no one from outside can develop Nkoranza for them, and encouraged members to work hard to leave a legacy that will be remembered.
