Wiawso College of Education student produces raincoat and umbrella from empt water sachet
Miss Mary Mortoti, a Level 400 Home Economics student of Wiawso College of Education, has used empty water sachets to produce affordable raincoats and umbrellas for the Ghanaian market.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Miss Mortoti explained that the idea was to do it for commercial purpose whilst helping to keep the environment clean.
She mentioned difficulty in getting raw materials and occasional price fluctuations as some of her challenges and called for support to produce in large quantities for the market.
She, therefore, appealed to the government, individuals and organisations with funding, training, and promotion to expand her reach to more people.
“I am ready and willing to train others, especially the youth but this can materialise when I get grant from the government and youth development agencies, to help create jobs and empower many in my community,” Miss Mortoti.
