Bosome Freho District Assembly Adopts Measures to Improve Security, Infrastructure and Sanitation

The Bosome Freho District Assembly has adopted several key resolutions aimed at improving security, education, road infrastructure, tourism and sanitation in the district.

The resolutions were adopted during the Assembly’s First Ordinary Meeting held at the Assembly’s Conference Hall in Asiwa on Thursday.

Presenting the Executive Committee’s report, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Charles Appiah Kubi, said the Assembly had approved the renovation of the Mmrorontuo Police Cell to improve detention facilities.

He said the Assembly had also appealed to the Inspector-General of Police and the Government to provide a permanent police vehicle for the district to enhance police operations and improve security.

On justice delivery, Mr Appiah Kubi expressed concern over the ineffectiveness of the District Court due to a backlog of pending cases.

According to him, the Assembly had recommended that the Judicial Service urgently deploy an acting judge to the district following the substantive judge's unavailability.

To further enhance public safety, the Assembly adopted a resolution for the installation of streetlights at vantage points in various communities across the district.

On road infrastructure, the Assembly proposed the reshaping of roads in the Nsuta Zone, as well as the Kokoben-Nkwantapong and Brofoyedru-Adeito-Adakabunso roads, which are reportedly in poor condition.

The DCE also briefed Assembly Members on the status of projects being funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and tasked them with intensifying monitoring of projects in their respective electoral areas.

In the area of tourism and education, the Assembly resolved to pursue the redevelopment of Lake Bosomtwe as part of efforts to generate revenue and promote tourism in the district.

The Assembly also approved plans for the construction of a girls’ dormitory for the Bosomtwe Senior High Technical School at Ankaase.

However, the meeting expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the Amantubuom School Complex, which the DCE said had been taken over by illegal miners.

The Assembly called for urgent action to reclaim and rehabilitate the facility and ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.

To address sanitation challenges, the Assembly adopted a resolution for the evacuation of heaps of refuse from communities across the district.

Mr Appiah Kubi assured Assembly Members that the Executive Committee would engage and follow up with the relevant agencies to ensure the speedy implementation of the resolutions adopted at the meeting.
