Residents of Siniensi-Kaasa applaud James Agalga for CHPS Compound

Residents of Siniensi-Kaasa in the Bulsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region have expressed profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. James Agalga, for facilitating the provision of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound for the community.

The residents say the completion and commissioning of the health facility have brought significant relief to the community, which, for more than a decade, had been appealing for a healthcare facility to address the challenges associated with accessing basic healthcare services.

The facility is expected to improve access to primary healthcare and reduce the burden on residents, particularly pregnant women, children, the elderly and other vulnerable persons who previously had to travel considerable distances to seek medical attention.

Agalga Has Brought Relief to Our Community

Speaking to the media, the Chief of Siniensi-Kaasa, Achalinchab Paul, commended Hon. James Agalga for responding to the long-standing appeal of the community.

According to the Chief, the people had been calling for the establishment of a health facility for more than ten years, making the intervention a major milestone in the development of the community.

“For over ten years, we have been calling for a health facility in this community. Today, we are grateful that Hon. James Agalga has listened to our concerns and honoured our request,” the Chief said.

He noted that the absence of a health facility had created serious difficulties for residents, especially in emergency situations and for expectant mothers who needed timely access to healthcare.

The Chief therefore described the CHPS compound as a major relief to the community, stressing that residents would no longer have to depend entirely on distant health facilities for basic medical services.

Midwife Applauds the Intervention
A midwife in the community also expressed appreciation for the establishment of the facility, indicating that its presence would contribute significantly to improving healthcare delivery and making essential health services more accessible to residents.

She noted that the facility would particularly benefit pregnant women and mothers by bringing maternal and child healthcare closer to the people.

The residents believe the intervention demonstrates the importance of investing in basic social infrastructure, particularly in rural communities where access to healthcare remains a major concern.

Residents Appeal for Electricity and Potable Water

While expressing appreciation for the CHPS compound, residents also used the opportunity to draw attention to other pressing developmental challenges confronting the community.

According to them, electricity and potable drinking water remain major needs that require urgent attention.

The residents explained that the community is yet to be connected to the national electricity grid, making it difficult for households and businesses to enjoy the benefits associated with reliable electricity.

They also lamented the difficulties involved in accessing potable drinking water, saying the situation continues to place an additional burden on residents.

They therefore appealed to the government, the MP and other development partners to complement the healthcare intervention with projects aimed at extending electricity and reliable potable water to the community.

A New Chapter for Siniensi-Kaasa
The commissioning/provision of the CHPS compound marks an important development in the history of Siniensi-Kaasa, particularly after years of appeals for improved access to healthcare.

For residents, the facility is more than just a physical structure; it represents the fulfilment of a long-standing community aspiration and a step towards reducing inequalities in access to basic healthcare.

The community has consequently expressed its appreciation to Hon. James Agalga while calling for continued support to address the remaining infrastructure needs, particularly electricity and potable water.

The residents say they remain hopeful that the same commitment demonstrated in the provision of the CHPS compound will be extended to other developmental challenges confronting Siniensi-Kaasa.
