NPP names Cecilia Abena Dapaah as Chair of vetting committee for national elections
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has constituted a National Vetting Committee chaired by former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah as the party prepares for its upcoming national elections.
The party will open nominations for prospective candidates from August 17 to August 20, 2026, with the vetting of aspirants scheduled for August 31 to September 3.
The list of qualified candidates is expected to be published on September 5, after which aspirants will have until September 14 to file appeals.
The notice of poll will subsequently be issued ahead of the national elections scheduled for October 3.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Chairman of the NPP Election Committee, Frederick Opare Ansah, said the various stages had been outlined to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.
“The committee has established a National Vetting Committee chaired by Cecilia Abena Dapaah. The other members are Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Salifu Said, Ambassador Baffour Adjei Bawuah, Elizabeth Ohene, Osei Prempeh, Joyce Opoku Boateng, and Arnold Boateng, with Evans Nimako serving as the secretary to the Vetting Committee,” he said.
NPP Announces Nomination Fees
The party has also announced nomination fees for the various positions to be contested in the national elections.
Nomination forms for the position of National Chairman will cost GH¢50,000, while aspirants seeking the First Vice Chairperson and General Secretary positions will pay GH¢30,000 and GH¢25,000 respectively.
Forms for the remaining national executive positions will be sold at GH¢10,000.
A reduced fee of GH¢8,000 will apply to aspirants contesting positions within the party’s special wings, including the Youth, Women and Nasara wings.
