Transport Ministry receives report on sector challenges
The Ministry of Transport has received a report from Graphic Communications Group Limited and Stanbic Bank Ghana following a stakeholder breakfast meeting held in February to deliberate on pressing issues affecting Ghana’s transport sector.
Upon receiving the report, the Chief Director of the Ministry, William Kartey, welcomed the engagement and assured that the recommendations would inform ongoing transport policy development.
He mentioned the importance of private-sector capital and partnerships in developing modern transport systems capable of supporting Ghana’s growing urban centres, including improved rail, bus and other mass-transit systems.
The breakfast meeting, organised as a thought-leadership and stakeholder engagement platform, brought together experts and sector stakeholders to explore practical solutions to challenges including traffic congestion, transport management, alternative transport systems, sustainable financing and the broader role of transport in Ghana’s economic development.
The report contains recommendations on transport policy, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable funding, recognising that innovative financing will be critical to translating transport plans into tangible infrastructure and services.
