Queen mother falls from palanquin during Mozama festival at Gomoa Tarkwa

A Queen Mother reportedly fell from a palanquin during the ongoing Mozama Festival at Gomoa Tarkwa in the Central Region, in an unexpected incident that briefly disrupted the colourful traditional celebrations.

The incident occurred as chiefs, queen mothers and other traditional leaders gathered at the festival grounds to participate in the annual festivities, which featured traditional displays, music, dancing and other cultural activities.

As part of the celebrations, several traditional leaders were carried shoulder-high on palanquins while they waved to the crowd and displayed their dancing skills to the admiration of spectators.

However, the festive atmosphere took an unexpected turn when one of the Queen Mothers reportedly lost her balance while being carried on a palanquin and fell.

The incident attracted the attention of people at the festival grounds, with onlookers moving closer to ascertain her condition.

Despite the unexpected fall, the incident did not appear to dampen the overall atmosphere of the festival, as celebrations continued with traditional performances and other activities.

The Mozama Festival brings together members of the Gomoa Tarkwa community, traditional authorities and visitors to celebrate their heritage, culture and traditions.
