Tension brews as Kpandai and Nkanchina communities threaten to shut down nursing school over Principal's suspension

Tension is reportedly escalating in the Kpandai District as residents of Kpandai and Nkanchina threaten to shut down the Nkanchina Nursing and Midwifery Training School in protest over the prolonged suspension of the school's principal.

Information gathered by this reporter suggests that traditional leaders, youth groups, and other community members are planning to lock up the administrative offices and lecture halls of the institution if their concerns are not addressed by the Ministry of Health.

According to community members, the continued suspension of the principal has negatively affected the growth and development of the nursing training institution. They argue that the situation has created uncertainty within the school and slowed its progress.

The aggrieved residents also claim that despite several visits by their chiefs and representatives to the Ministry of Health to seek a resolution, their concerns have received little or no attention.

Frustrated by what they describe as the ministry's disregard for their appeals, the communities are now threatening to reclaim approximately 224 acres of land that were voluntarily allocated for the establishment of the school. They say the land will be reverted to farming activities should the impasse remain unresolved.

Community members further contend that since the Ministry of Health's fact-finding committee visited the school to investigate the matter, no official feedback has been communicated to them. They also note that the principal's suspension was initially expected to last only three months, yet there has been no public update regarding the outcome of the investigations or the way forward.

The planned action, if carried out, could disrupt academic activities and affect both students and staff of the institution.

As of the time of publication, the Ministry of Health had not publicly responded to the latest concerns raised by the communities.
