High Court freezes five bank accounts, four properties of NPP's Miracles Aboagye over GH¢55 million EOCO probe
The High Court has ordered the freezing of five bank accounts and four landed properties belonging to former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, as investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) continue.
The order, granted on Monday, August 3, prohibits any transactions on the affected bank accounts and restrains the sale, transfer, mortgage or disposal of the identified properties until the court issues further directives.
The asset preservation order forms part of EOCO's ongoing investigation into alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities said to involve about GH¢55 million during Mr Aboagye's tenure at the IMCCoD.
According to the anti-graft agency, the investigations are focused on procurement processes and financial transactions undertaken during the period to determine whether any acts of financial impropriety were committed.
Under Ghanaian law, investigative agencies such as EOCO may seek preservation orders from the courts where there is reason to believe assets could be linked to suspected economic or organised crime. The orders are intended to prevent such assets from being transferred or disposed of while investigations are ongoing.
