Ghana Embassy in Tokyo issues safety advisory as Typhoon Dolphin approaches Japan
The Embassy of Ghana in Tokyo has urged Ghanaian nationals in Japan to remain vigilant as Typhoon No. 13, Dolphin, approaches parts of the country.
The advisory, issued on Monday, August 3, follows forecasts that the typhoon is moving towards the Ogasawara Islands, about 1,000 kilometres south of central Tokyo, with high waves expected.
The Embassy has advised Ghanaians and other residents to stay informed through official Japanese channels and strictly adhere to safety directives issued by the authorities.
"Ghanaian nationals and other residents are advised to remain alert and take the necessary precautions. Please follow the guidance and information provided by the relevant Japanese authorities," the Embassy said in a general advisory.
The mission encouraged residents to monitor updates from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Disaster Prevention Information account and the Japan Meteorological Agency for the latest weather forecasts.
It also urged travellers to check with their airlines for possible flight disruptions and advised those travelling by sea to monitor updates from ferry operators serving the Ogasawara Islands.
"The Embassy of Ghana in Tokyo advises all Ghanaian nationals to exercise caution, stay informed, and closely follow the instructions of the Japanese authorities to ensure their safety," the statement added.
