Omanhen of Mankessim commissions walkway at Central Regional House of Chiefs

Osagyefo Amando Edu VI, Omanhen of the Mankessim Traditional Area, has commissioned an ultra‑modern walkway at the premises of the Central Regional House of Chiefs (CRHOC) in Cape Coast to enhance access for visitors and dignitaries.

He said the project was a long‑held dream that had finally been realised, describing it as a strategic asset that would position the CRHOC as a beautiful edifice with the requisite infrastructure. The Omanhen personally funded the project, estimated at GH¢149,000.00.

Commissioning the walkway, he recounted how the elderly and persons with disabilities often struggled to use the staircase, prompting his decision to construct the facility to ensure easy access for all.

He noted that the walkway is a step towards making the House more accessible and beneficial for everyone who visits to seek justice and counsel.

The Omanhen emphasised that traditional institutions must model development and take the lead in transforming their immediate workspaces. He said traditional councils and Houses of Chiefs serve as the moral anchor of society and custodians of Ghana’s heritage.

Therefore, he added, it is incumbent upon leaders to ensure that physical infrastructure reflects the dignity, prestige, and reverence associated with these institutions.

Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, President of the CRHOC, lauded the Mankessim Monarch for his unwavering commitment to regional development, unity, and the welfare of the chieftaincy institution.

He noted that Osagyefo Edu VI has consistently demonstrated progressive leadership, balancing deep‑rooted reverence for culture with a clear vision for socio‑economic advancement.
