AMA fines Tudu traders GH¢450 each for defying National Sanitation Day exercise
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has fined a number of traders at Tudu GH¢450 each for failing to comply with a directive to suspend trading during the National Sanitation Day exercise.
The traders were issued on-the-spot fines after AMA enforcement officers found them conducting business while the nationwide clean-up exercise was in progress.
In addition to the fines, the Assembly confiscated the goods of traders who ignored the directive to close their shops and participate in the sanitation exercise.
The enforcement exercise formed part of the AMA's efforts to ensure strict adherence to sanitation regulations and encourage active public participation in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The National Sanitation Day initiative is aimed at improving environmental cleanliness, promoting proper waste management practices and fostering a culture of collective responsibility among residents in keeping communities clean.
