NPP Drops Bombshell: How Sedina Allegedly Drained GH¢90m and Beat Jail
The New Patriotic Party has fired off a blistering attack on the Court of Appeal after the acquittal of former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe‑Attionu, accusing her of stealing and causing massive financial loss to the State.
At a press conference in Accra, the NPP said Sedina — who was convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in 2024 — walked free despite offenses that allegedly drained the public purse by over GH¢90 million.
“Sedina is walking home free after stealing GH¢90 million of taxpayers' money!” the party charged.
The 78 Charges: Theft, Loss, Laundering
Sedina served as MASLOC CEO from November 2013 to January 2017 under President John Mahama. On 30 January 2019, the State filed 78 counts against her, ranging from stealing and conspiracy to steal, willfully causing financial loss, improper payment of public funds, unauthorized commitments, money laundering, and procurement breaches.
EOCO's Findings: The NPP's Breakdown of 'Sins Against the State'
The party cited EOCO investigations and outlined seven major areas of alleged diversion:
- GH¢500,000 Obaatampa Deal
A cheque issued to Obaatampa was allegedly diverted after Sedina instructed the company to cash it and deliver the money to her at Baatsona Total.

Approved: GH¢1,706,000.
Withdrawn: GH¢1,816,000.
Used: GH¢1,300 in only three regions.
NPP: “She stole GH¢1,814,700!” - GH¢246,000 Training Funds
Approved for financial literacy training.
NPP: “Not a single training was done.” - GH¢579,000 Kantamanto Fire Victims' Money
Out of GH¢1.46m approved, GH¢579,000 was allegedly pocketed.
NPP: “She stole GH¢579,000!” - 350 Vehicles Contract — Inflated by $4.1m
Prices for Aveo, Chevy, and Isuzu buses were allegedly inflated without PPA approval.
Contract jumped from $10.16m to $14.29m.
NPP: “She caused financial loss of $4,130,642!” - GH¢69,012 Phone Procurement Inflation
200 Samsung phones bought for GH¢24,400 but billed at GH¢93,412. - GH¢273,743 Unapproved Payments
Paid to herself and her deputy as ex‑gratia and benefits.
Fled, Tried in Absentia, Extradited — Then Freed
Sedina left Ghana for medical treatment in July 2021 and never returned. She was tried in absentia, convicted in April 2024, and extradited in June 2026.
The NPP questioned how a notice of appeal “suddenly appeared” in 2026 when none existed during its administration.
NPP: “The Acquittal Was Planned”
The party accused the three‑member Appeal Court panel — Justices E. Ankamah, S. Diawuo and E.S. Amedahe — of ignoring evidence from seven State witnesses.
It rejected the court's claim that the charge sheet was defective, citing Section 31(2) of the Courts Act and Section 406(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act, which bar reversals based on technicalities when evidence supports the offence.
“The whole Sedina acquittal was well planned and executed by the NDC government. This is what is called clearing!” the NPP said.
The party further accused the Attorney‑General of turning Article 88's “sacred trust” into a “partisan clearing house” by using nolle prosequi since January 2025 to free “virtually every NDC‑affiliated person.”
The NPP is demanding that the AG publish all discontinued cases and that the Judicial Council act to restore public confidence.
