GCK in Ogun…dead bones will live again
In January 2025 ahead of his trip to the United States of America to honour Washington’s invitation to the inauguration of President Donald Trump at his second coming, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, DCLM, wrote an article in the respected American medium, The Christian Post, where he raised issues about man’s strange double standard in the face of God’s generationally tested ability to tame any crisis.
He said: ‘’ We trust God with the saving of our souls, believing He holds the keys to Heaven, but when it comes to our day-to-day concerns, anxiety often takes the wheel. Why is it that we can trust God for eternity but not for today? This is a question worth exploring because it exposes the depth of our faith…At its heart, worry is a failure to trust God fully. It is a subtle but powerful expression of doubt that whispers, ’’God might not come through.’’ When we allow these thoughts to consume us, we enter a cycle of negative self-talk that paralyzes our faith and undermines our confidence in God.’’
Now, the venerated international evangelist is heading for history-making Ogun State in Nigeria’s southwest, on the wings of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi, GCK, his missionary platform that stages outings across the world every month. As he convenes the August edition at Ota, the state’s industrial centre, from the 26th to the 30th of the month, with the theme, JESUS THE MIRACLE WORKER, would Kumuyi again return to the old question of man’s halfhearted belief in the omnipotence of the Lord which he asked the Americans?
The preacher went there convinced of the exceeding mercy and might of the Lord he serves to reorder any sordid situation, no matter the low stage of the decrepitude. He has walked with Him for decades, not once being failed, he says. As long as the churchman trustingly obeys Him, he has always responded promptly to his pleas with demonstrable answers of salvation, restoration of backsliders, healing of the sick, raising of the dead, giving of hope and help to the hopeless and helpless along with numerous other miracles and signs and wonders.
When Pastor Kumuyi storms Ogun West, he expects to encounter those who share in his unfailing faith in the power of the Saviour he’s bringing. He presents Him wherever He takes him worldwide as the Son of God Who died to save mankind from sin and its grave consequences. Among such repercussions is alienation from the protection and peace of Heaven. This exposes man to the devil’s ruthless afflictions such as deadly sicknesses, social strife, joyless relationships, poverty, failing government and human institutions. It is the road to decay, destruction and finally death both of man and his society.
The man of God first delivers this message, warning that only a flight into God’s plan of Salvation through Christ can rescue mankind from the curse and body of death. We may marvel at the ingenious inventions of the science and technology of the age. We may be awed by striking strides in the social sciences or the humanities. We may develop new learning techniques that create geniuses among our teens. We may even outdo the medieval alchemists in the search for the elixir of life.
Kumuyi says all these efforts are carnal, cosmetic and corrosive, tending to prolong suffering and delay inevitable system collapse. The cleric and leader of the Deeper Life Bible Church, DLBC, says only Christ can halt this crushing march of the juggernaut of death.
So, as GCK arrives in Ogun, Pastor Kumuyi will be seeking to teach that our challenges, insecurity, youth restiveness, vandalism of infrastructure, socioeconomic malaise, seeming government inefficiency etc. are all outward expressions of a rot within. The inner Satan-struck spirit is at work, spewing out death at man and his activities. There are two levels of death, the bodily and the spiritual.
GCK has always addressed both. At the programs, sinners receive salvation of Christ after sincerely repenting from their transgressions when they hear the Word that convicts them. That’s deliverance from spiritual death, if they hold on in faith to the end.
Kumuyi’s crusade sessions are also known to have raised the physically dead. In Shashamani, Ethiopia, a 67-year grandmother, Hirat Tadesse, died after a health trauma. Her body was about to be packed for the mortuary from the hospital when the supernatural took place. She was brought back to life at 2am as the prayers of Kumuyi were offered over the radio 4,098 kilometres away in Nigeria where the man of God was holding the crusade. Even unborn babies have had back-from-death experience. Here in Ota, Madam Faith Odion carried a baby in the womb pronounced dead by the doctor. Her testimony: ‘’…the hospital matron brought a phone to me…I listened to Daddy Kumuyi’s prayers and I was saying Amen…Suddenly, the baby started breathing (moving) again.’’ She went on to deliver a healthy boy. These are verifiable occurrences.
The dead can live again as the GCK train roars into Ogun late August. The wasted, waning, weak bones in our system can be roused into vibrant newness for productive service for God and humanity as we believe the Lord and His servant.
Nigeria’s bones broken by the enemies of progress and institutional compromise and corruption can be stirred into a fresh life for the people to enjoy their rich natural resources as we allow God have His way in our land.
