Gunu assures Anfoega of government commitment to complete all ongoing projects

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has assured the people of Anfoega of the government’s commitment to completing all ongoing development projects in the area.

Speaking during a visit to Anfoega Senior High School, Hon. Gunu expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament, the District Chief Executive, and Hon. Francis Komla Ganyaglo for their collaboration with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council to bring development to the school.

He recalled his attendance at the school’s Thanksgiving service following the Grand Dema to commemorate its 60th anniversary, noting that the current visit was to fulfill promises made during that event. “Today we are here to deliver that,” he stated.

Hon. Gunu acknowledged the importance of infrastructure development, lamenting that under the previous MPP administration, many projects in the Volta Region were started but abandoned. He cited at least two such abandoned projects within Anfoega Senior High School alone.

According to the Regional Minister, the current government is prioritizing the completion of all abandoned projects. He said President John Dramani Mahama has put in place mechanisms to prevent future abandonment of government projects.

He explained that under the new directive, no project will commence without secured funding, commitment, and authorization. “Today, as we are here, the money for this project is already there. It is guaranteed. What is important is for the contractor to deliver, raise certificates, and get paid,” he said.

Hon. Gunu added that the President has also admonished officials to ensure due diligence in the award of contracts. Contracts, he noted, should be awarded based on the capacity of contractors to deliver quality work on time.

The Regional Minister reaffirmed the government’s resolve to accelerate infrastructure development across the Volta Region, stressing that the focus is on delivering tangible results that directly benefit communities and educational institutions.
