Fire guts Leklebi Senior High School Boys' Dormitory

A fire outbreak has destroyed parts of the boys' dormitory at Leklebi Senior High School in the Afadzato South district of the Volta Region, destroying several properties, including the personal belongings of the Senior Housemaster.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, while academic activities were ongoing at the school. According to reports, the fire started in the Senior Housemaster's room before spreading and causing extensive damage to property in the dormitory.

Speaking on the Akpini Daybreak Show on Akpini Radio 96.7 FM, hosted by Godwin Adenyo, on Monday, July 27, the Assembly Member for the Leklebi Duga Electoral Area, Hon. Fia Albert, said the Senior Housemaster lost all his personal belongings in the fire, including money, clothing, and other valuables.

He said the Senior Housemaster was left with only the shirt he was wearing when the incident occurred, as virtually all his possessions were destroyed in the fire.

Hon. Fia Albert is therefore appealing to the government, individuals, corporate organizations, and other benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the school and the affected Senior Housemaster.

On the possible cause of the fire, the Assembly Member said he could not immediately confirm what triggered the outbreak. However, he noted suspicions that a power fluctuation or a sudden increase in voltage following a power outage could have contributed to the incident.

He, however, stressed that the exact cause of the fire had not yet been established, as the Ghana National Fire Service is investigating the incident and is expected to issue a report on the actual cause.

The Assembly Member urged the public and other stakeholders to support the school and the affected Senior Housemaster as efforts are made to recover from the devastating incident.
