BoG commiserates with Dagbon over passing of Yaa-Naa Abukari II
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has extended its condolences to the people of Dagbon following the passing of His Royal Majesty, Ndan Yaa-Naa Abukari II, describing his death as a great loss to the kingdom and the nation.
In a press release issued on Monday, July 27, the Central Bank said the late overlord's leadership, wisdom and commitment to peace contributed significantly to the stability and development of Ghana.
The statement comes after the revered traditional ruler's passing was announced on Monday, July 13, by the Head of the Dagbon Kingmakers, Kuga Naa Adam Abdulai II, following the performance of customary rites at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.
"His Majesty was a revered custodian of culture, peace and unity, and his leadership and wisdom contributed immensely to the stability and development of Ghana. His wise counsel and leadership will be greatly missed," the statement read in part.
The Bank said it was deeply saddened by the passing of the Dagbon King and expressed solidarity with the royal family and the people of the kingdom during their period of mourning.
It also conveyed condolences on behalf of its Board of Directors, Management and Staff, praying for strength and comfort for all those affected by the loss.
"On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of the Bank of Ghana, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Elders, the people of Dagbon, and the bereaved Royal Family. We pray that the Almighty grant the people of the Dagbon Kingdom strength and fortitude during this difficult period," it read.
