Fire destroys apartment of Leklebi SHS housemaster
Fire has gutted the apartment of the Housemaster of Leklebi Senior High School in the Volta Region, leaving six students with minor injuries and two occupants collapsing from shock.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, at about 1621 hours, prompting a distress call to the Hohoe Municipal Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Firefighters, led by DO III Bismark Hosu-Porbley, the Hohoe Municipal Fire Commander, arrived at the scene to find the top-floor apartment fully engulfed in flames.
The crew immediately commenced firefighting operations, brought the blaze under control, and prevented it from spreading to adjoining structures.
Six male students sustained minor injuries while attempting to extinguish the fire before the arrival of firefighters.
A male and female occupant of the apartment also reportedly collapsed after learning about the incident. No fatalities were recorded.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
The Ghana National Fire Service commended the swift response and professionalism of its personnel in containing the blaze.
The Service urged educational institutions to prioritise fire safety measures to protect lives and property.
