Mahama Reaffirms Support for Faith-Based Development at Prang @50 Grand Mawlid
The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has underscored government’s commitment to strengthening faith-based institutions and community development after representing President John Dramani Mahama at the Golden Jubilee Grand Mawlid of Sheikh Ahmed Tijani in Prang, Bono East Region.
Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak led a high‑level government delegation — including the Bono East Regional Minister and several MMDCEs — to the milestone celebration hosted by Sheikh Abufaid Khalifa Jallo and the Tijaniyya Muslim Council of Ghana.
The event, Prang @50, drew thousands of Muslims, renowned Islamic scholars, traditional leaders and government officials to honour five decades of spiritual leadership and humanitarian service by Sheikh Ahmed Tijani.
Delivering President Mahama’s message, the Interior Minister conveyed the President’s appreciation to the organisers for sustaining a tradition that fosters national unity and religious harmony.
“President John Dramani Mahama extends his warm felicitations and profound appreciation to Sheikh Abul Faid Khalifa Jallo, the Tijaniyya fraternity and the entire organising committee for sustaining a tradition that continues to promote peace, unity, religious tolerance and national cohesion,” he said.
As part of government’s support, President Mahama donated 50 bags of rice, bottled water, cooking oil, one cow and GH₵20,000 towards the successful organisation of the Golden Jubilee Grand Mawlid. He also presented 200 bags of cement to the Sheikh Abdullai Maikano Educational Complex to aid ongoing construction works.
Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak toured the educational complex to assess progress and assured the Khalifatul Akbar of government’s continued support for the project.
“The government remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote education, community development and religious harmony for the benefit of the people,” he said.
He further urged the Muslim community to continue praying for President Mahama, his administration and the nation.
“As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, I urge you to continue offering prayers for President John Dramani Mahama, his government and the people of Ghana. May Almighty Allah bless our nation with enduring peace, unity, stability and prosperity.”
The Golden Jubilee Grand Mawlid highlighted 50 years of honouring the spiritual legacy of Sheikh Ahmed Tijani and reaffirmed the Tijaniyya Muslim Council’s dedication to peace, unity and religious tolerance in Ghana.
