Refuse collector allegedly assaulted by Asante youths over alleged insults against Otumfuo

A refuse collector has allegedly been assaulted by a group of young men after he was accused of making derogatory remarks about the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The incident, which was captured in a viral social media video, shows the group confronting the man over claims that he had spoken disrespectfully about the revered traditional ruler. The footage has since attracted widespread attention online.

During the confrontation, the youths maintained that insulting the Asantehene was unacceptable, particularly for anyone living or working within the Ashanti Region. They stressed that Otumfuo is highly revered and must be accorded the utmost respect at all times.

The men, who described themselves as loyal supporters and defenders of the Asantehene, declared that they would not tolerate any act they considered disrespectful towards their king. They further warned that anyone who insults Otumfuo should be prepared to face the consequences of such actions.

The refuse collector was reportedly assaulted before being cautioned against making any further alleged insulting remarks.

The group warned him that any further act would attract even more serious consequences.
