Police intercept over 1,000 vehicles in Accra over illegal sirens and vehicle modifications
The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 1,054 vehicles in the Greater Accra Region as part of an ongoing nationwide enforcement exercise targeting the unauthorised use of sirens, horns, strobe lights, beacon lights and other illegal vehicle modifications.
The Police said the operation is aimed at ensuring compliance with road traffic regulations, improving road safety and addressing the misuse of warning devices on vehicles.
Since the exercise commenced on June 15, 2026, a total of 4,627 vehicles have been intercepted nationwide, according to the Service.
The Police explained that the exercise is focused on identifying and removing illegal vehicle accessories and modifications that create safety concerns and are often used in breach of traffic laws.
The Service has urged motorists to adhere to road traffic regulations, warning that individuals found violating the law will face the necessary legal sanctions as the enforcement campaign continues across the country.
