Otumfuo commends IGP, Ashanti Police and Special Operations Team for crime-fighting efforts
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has praised Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Ashanti Regional Police Command and the IGP's Special Operations Team (SOT) for their efforts in tackling crime and ensuring peace, security and public order across the country.
The commendation came on Wednesday, July 22, when the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP) Arthur Osei Akoto, led the Director of the IGP's Special Operations Team, Superintendent Augustine Dawson-Ahmoah, his deputies and other members of the unit on a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace.
During the meeting, COP Arthur Osei Akoto introduced the Special Operations Team to the Asantehene and explained that the unit was established by the IGP to strengthen intelligence-led policing and improve public safety.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II observed that the team's operations had made a significant impact on security in the Ashanti Region, particularly in the fight against drug trafficking, armed robbery, human trafficking and other forms of criminal activity.
He urged the officers to remain disciplined, professional and dedicated in the performance of their duties, noting that policing is a noble profession that demands commitment, integrity and selflessness.
The Asantehene also advised the officers to take the necessary precautions to safeguard their own lives while carrying out their responsibilities.
Responding on behalf of the team, Superintendent Augustine Dawson-Ahmoah expressed appreciation to the Asantehene for his words of encouragement and assured him of the unit's resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at protecting lives and property while supporting the Ghana Police Service in maintaining peace and security across the country.
