Three caged over alleged lynching of man at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi
The Asokore Mampong District Court has remanded three men into police custody over the alleged lynching of Yusuf Zakari at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The accused are Moses Adoko, 37, a plumber; Abubakari Adams, 25, a herdsman; and Nurudeen Suleman, 35, a motor mechanic.
According to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals suspected to have participated in the fatal attack.
In a statement, the Police said preliminary investigations revealed that Mr Zakari was allegedly assaulted by a group of people at a cattle kraal in Sabon Zongo during the early hours of July 19, 2026.
The victim sustained severe injuries and was initially taken to the Manhyia Government Hospital before being referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The three suspects were subsequently arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Her Worship Mrs Hilder Esther Wryter.
The court ordered that the accused persons be remanded into police custody and adjourned the case to August 7, 2026.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command said investigations into the incident remain active as officers continue efforts to track down other individuals believed to have been involved.
The Police also urged the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report suspected criminal activities to the appropriate authorities for lawful action.
The Command appealed to anyone with relevant information to contact the nearest police station or use the emergency numbers 191, 112 or the MTN toll-free line 18555 to assist with investigations.
It assured the public that every person found to have played a role in the incident would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
