Emmanuel Acheampong Nana Adjei elected 64th UCC SRC president
The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has elected Emmanuel Acheampong Nana Adjei as the 64th President of the Students' Representative Council (SRC) following a keenly contested election held on 17th June 2026.
Nana Adjei, a Level 300 Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Economics student, emerged victorious on the ticket of the Nyame Tease campaign team alongside his running mate, Regina Yayra Adenyo, who was elected Vice President. The duo secured an impressive 53.2% of the total valid votes cast, polling 7,001 votes to earn the mandate of the student body.
The election results reflected widespread support for the Nyame Tease agenda across the university community. Emmanuel Acheampong Nana Adjei won in eight out of the ten halls of residence, recording victories in Atlantic Hall, Adehye Hall, Oguaa Hall, Valco Trust Hall, Valco Hall, SRC Hall, Ghana Universities Staff Superannuation Scheme (GUSSS) Hall, and University Hall Housing Medical Students (UHMS) Hall. He also dominated voting in the University's satellite campuses at Nyakrom and Dominase.
Speaking after his victory, the President-Elect expressed gratitude to students for their confidence in his leadership and pledged to deliver on the promises outlined during his campaign. He emphasized his commitment to advancing student welfare, improving academic support systems, and strengthening the voice of students in university governance.
Among his flagship promises is the reintroduction of the popular student data package initiative introduced during the tenure of the 62nd SRC President, Abraham Norman Nortey, which provided students with 10GB of data, 500 call minutes, and 200 SMS monthly at an affordable rate. He also pledged to work towards expanding Wi-Fi connectivity across campus to enhance teaching, learning, and research.
Other key policy priorities outlined by the President-Elect include increasing scholarship and financial aid opportunities for students, constructing a student mini-mart to improve access to essential commodities, advocating for the improvement of campus roads and lecture facilities, and continuing efforts toward the completion of the SRC Hall Annex accommodation project.
Students and stakeholders have welcomed the outcome of the election and expressed optimism that the incoming administration will build upon previous successes while introducing innovative interventions to improve student life at UCC.
The election of Emmanuel Acheampong Nana Adjei and Regina Yayra Adenyo marks the beginning of a new chapter in student leadership at the University of Cape Coast, with many students hopeful that their administration will deliver on its vision of progress, inclusiveness, and transformational leadership.
The President-Elect is expected to assume office after the completion of the constitutional transition process and official handing-over ceremony slated for 20th July 2025.
