ECG announces planned power outages in five regions on July 22

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled maintenance works that will result in temporary power outages in parts of the Tema, Ashanti, Accra West, Central and Eastern regions on Wednesday, July 22.

The power distributor said the planned maintenance forms part of efforts to improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply. It also disclosed that engineers in the Tema and Accra West regions are working to resolve separate network faults that have caused unplanned outages.

In the Tema Region, electricity supply will be interrupted between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Sydal Farms, Community 24, Japan City, Teteman, Global, Addo Kope, Kasseh, Big Ada, Ada Foah, Totope, Treasure Island, Aqua Safari and nearby communities.

ECG also said customers in parts of the Tema Region continue to experience unscheduled outages due to a network fault. The affected areas include TT Brothers, Zonda Trucks, Macbaron Charlets, PFC, European Market, Movelle, Asaswa, Kaas, Afko Fisheries, Ocean Fare, We Two Sea, Fishing Harbour, Main Harbour, GPHA Headquarters, FDA, Black Star Line Building, Agrona, Dry Dock, Sahara, Nyame Na Onim, GAFCo, Buade, Iron Bar, GCB Training School, Adogonno, Ravico, Watch Tower, Junction Mall, Alton Hotel, Regimanuel Estates, Queensland International School and surrounding communities.

In the Ashanti Region, several communities will experience power interruptions as maintenance works are carried out. They include Tabre, Sepaase, Maakro, Besease, Topman Farms, Abrafo Kokoben, Koforidua, Ntensere, Manhyia, Abuakwa, Akyeremade, Old Tafo, New Road Junction, Bonwire, Amanpe, Adanwomase, Baman, Kumaca, Asokore Mampong, Royal Foam Factory, CCC, Asokore Mampong Municipal, Mamponteng, Dwumanafo, Aboaso, Hemang, Ankaase Hospital, Mpobi, Ejuratia, Kona, Asonomaso, parts of Agona, Kwapia, Wiaso, Watchman, Emena, Boadi, Apemso, Appiadu, Donyina, Deduako, Master Nkwanta, Mensoso, Grumesa, Nkransa, Mprekyere, Nsuta, Akutreso, Brekete, Abu, Ackwa-Atwereboana and surrounding areas.

In the Accra West Region, planned maintenance will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting electricity supply to Mama's Inn, Sahara, Bishop Deli School, King Solomon, NIC, Agape, St. Clare, Police Training School, Tesano and neighbouring communities.

The company also reported a transformer fault at Gbawe Top Base, which has caused unplanned outages in Lesson Villa, Bodoo, Ophelia Nyantechi, Shawamah, High Tension and nearby areas. Engineers are currently working to restore supply.

In the Central Region, residents of Bontroase, Ojobi, Senya Township, Bonsuoku, Anopasu, Breku, Fetteh Township and surrounding communities will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Region, electricity supply will be interrupted in Asuokaw, Mepom, Asikasu, Owurakesim and surrounding areas between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. A separate maintenance exercise from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. will affect Old Estate, Paradise, Country Home, Veterinary, Kenke Factory, New Lands Hospital, Daddy's Spot and neighbouring communities.

ECG apologised for the inconvenience the planned outages may cause and appealed to customers in the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements while the maintenance works are completed.
