GES recruiting of 10,000 teachers, another intake set for November — PRO
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the recruitment of about 10,000 teachers is currently underway.
Another employment exercise is expected to begin around November this year.
The recruitment comprises about 7,000 teachers for the GES and another 3,000 for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
The exercise forms part of government's efforts to address teacher shortages and absorb unemployed trained teachers across the country.
"There are about 10,000 teachers being recruited. Process ongoing. About 7,000 into GES, and about 3,000 into TVET, making the 10,000," Head of Public Relations at the GES, Daniel Fenyi, said in a social media post on Tuesday, July 21.
According to him, the long-term objective is to ensure every classroom is staffed and gradually clear the backlog of unemployed trained teachers from both colleges of education and universities.
"The ultimate aim is to seamlessly fill every single classroom with teachers, recruiting all unemployed trained teachers, both backlog and current, from both the Colleges and the Universities," he stated.
