Edem Agbana pledges three months' salary towards proposed Volta Cardiology Centre
Mr Eric Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North, has pledged three months of his salary towards the construction of the proposed Cardiology Centre for the Volta Region to support improved specialist healthcare delivery.
The pledge was made on Monday during a working visit by the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares), Mrs Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, and her team to the Ho Teaching Hospital.
The visit, attended by the MP and other stakeholders, provided an opportunity to discuss measures to strengthen specialist healthcare services in the Volta Region, review the progress of interventions under the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, and advance plans for establishing the proposed Cardiology Centre.
Mr Agbana commended the Mahama Cares team for the progress made within a short period since the establishment of the Fund, describing its interventions as a significant step towards improving access to quality and affordable healthcare for Ghanaians living with chronic diseases.
He appealed to individuals, corporate organisations and development partners to support the Fund financially to enable it to expand its reach, assist more patients and improve healthcare outcomes across the country.
“As my personal contribution to this important cause, I pledge to donate three months of my salary towards the construction of the proposed Cardiology Centre for the Volta Region, after deducting my monthly commitment to my scholarship scheme,” Mr Agbana said.
He expressed confidence that with sustained support from government, private institutions and citizens, Ghana could build a stronger healthcare system that guaranteed equitable access to quality specialist care and left no one behind.
