The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a fire outbreak involving a fuel tanker at the Kpone Barrier in the Greater Accra Region.

The Service said the fire, which started on Monday, July 20, attracted six fire tenders from various stations, including Free Zones, Tema Industrial Area, BOST, Ashaiman, Tema Regional Headquarters and the Motorway, to battle the inferno.

In a social media update, the GNFS said firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading further while efforts continued to completely extinguish the flames.

"Fire has been confined from further spread at 1316 hours as firefighting is still underway to totally extinguish the fire," the Service said.

The GNFS has not disclosed the cause of the fire or reported any casualties as of the time of filing this report.
