Journalist wins NPP Atwima Nwabiagya South Second Vice Chair position

Broadcast journalist Oheneba Nana Asiedu has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency Second Vice Chairperson election, promising visionary and grassroots-focused leadership.

Mr Asiedu described his victory as a humbling mandate and pledged to serve the party with diligence, sobriety and dedication while prioritising the welfare of members and promoting unity.

The constituency executive elections, was held at the St. James Anglican Church at Atwima Maakro and supervised by the Electoral Commission.

Mr Asiedu secured 859 votes to defeat Albert Appiah, who polled 382 votes, and Eric Boafo Appiah, who obtained 235 votes. Two out of 1,478 ballots cast were rejected.

“I am incredibly humbled by the overwhelming show of confidence from our delegates,” Mr Asiedu said.

“I promise to serve with utmost diligence and sobriety, ensuring that the welfare of our party members is at the forefront of everything we do,” he added.

Outlining his vision, Mr Asiedu said he would work closely with the newly elected Constituency Chairman to embark on a membership mobilisation campaign across the constituency’s 64 communities to strengthen the party’s grassroots base.

He also pledged to champion a youth mentorship and skills acquisition programme aimed at equipping young people with practical vocational skills to promote self-reliance.

“Our youth are our greatest asset. I am committed to leading a youth-focused mentorship drive that equips young people in Atwima Nwabiagya South with the practical skills and trades they need to be self-reliant and valuable contributors to our community,” he said.

The Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency in the Ashanti Region is regarded as one of the NPP’s strongholds, with political observers viewing the constituency executive elections as key to strengthening the party’s structures ahead of future electoral contests.
