The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has commended personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Engineers for their professionalism, dedication and outstanding performance on the Accra–Kumasi Expressway Project.

The commendation was conveyed on behalf of the CDS by the Chief of Staff (COS) at the General Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai, during a visit to the project camp at Asuboa in the Eastern Region.

The visit followed the successful completion of 108 kilometres of clearing works, representing 61 per cent of the total project, achieved within a few weeks and ahead of schedule.

Addressing the troops, AVM Mensah-Larkai described the Accra–Kumasi Expressway as a legacy national infrastructure project and lauded the personnel for their commitment and professionalism, which had earned the Ghana Armed Forces national recognition.

He commended the commanders for providing effective leadership throughout the operation and encouraged the troops to maintain the high standards they have exhibited since the project's commencement.

The Chief of Staff also urged personnel to make safety a top priority as work progressed, stressing that the final stages of every operation required heightened vigilance to ensure the project's successful completion without incident.

AVM Mensah-Larkai further acknowledged the contributions of the Department of Engineering Services, the Department of Plans, Research and Development, and the 14 Engineer Brigade for their effective coordination and management of the project.

He expressed confidence that the troops would sustain the current momentum and deliver the project successfully in support of the Government's infrastructure development agenda.
