EEZZY Group Foundation donates to 42nd National Farmers’ Day

Preparations for Ghana's 42nd National Farmers' Day celebration have received a major boost following the donation of a brand-new Nissan pickup truck, a new agricultural tractor and 20 motorcycles by the EEZZY Group Foundation to support this year's awards scheme.

The items were presented to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Accra as part of the Foundation's contribution to promoting agriculture and supporting President John Dramani Mahama's Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the government, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, described the contribution as one of the most significant corporate donations towards the 2026 National Farmers' Day celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister reiterated the critical role agriculture plays in Ghana's economy, stressing that the country's development depends largely on the success of its farmers.

"When agriculture goes wrong, nothing else in this country can go right because every Ghanaian depends on food. Our farmers work day and night to ensure food security, yet they deserve greater recognition and support."

He said President Mahama is committed to transforming National Farmers' Day into a truly national event that offers meaningful rewards to farmers who continue to drive the country's food security and economic growth.

The Minister announced that this year's National Best Farmer will receive a prize package that includes a brand-new Nissan pickup truck donated by the EEZZY Group Foundation, a GH¢1.2 million cash prize, a brand-new agricultural tractor with complete accessories also donated by the Foundation, as well as assorted modern farm inputs and equipment.

Mr. Opoku further disclosed that the Ministry had received two additional pickup trucks from other corporate partners, increasing the number of vehicles to be presented as awards to three. He added that a 50-seater bus had also been donated for presentation to the country's Best Senior High School in Practical Agriculture.

In addition to the flagship awards, the EEZZY Group Foundation donated 20 brand-new motorcycles to support logistics for the National Farmers' Day programme and other agricultural activities.

According to the Minister, the Foundation's support will strengthen operational efficiency while reinforcing efforts to reward excellence in farming.

He noted that the growing level of private sector participation reflects increasing confidence in the Ministry and the government's commitment to transparency and accountability in managing public and donor support.

Mr. Opoku appealed to businesses, organisations and individuals to support this year's National Farmers' Day celebrations ahead of the event scheduled for December 4, 2026.

He assured the public that every donation received would be used solely for the benefit of farmers and award recipients.

“Last year every single donation reached the farmers. Not one item remained at the Ministry. We shall do the same this year. We are only a conduit to ensure these resources reach the hardworking farmers they are intended for.”

The Minister also announced that the National Farmers' Day Planning Committee, chaired by John Dumelo, will soon publish official bank account details to enable individuals and organisations to make financial contributions, whether publicly or anonymously.

He added that the Ministry would provide a full public account of all cash and in-kind donations received once the fundraising exercise concludes.

Mr. Opoku expressed appreciation to Mohammed Raii and the EEZZY Group Foundation for what he described as an outstanding demonstration of corporate social responsibility.

He noted that the Foundation's donation of a fully equipped agricultural tractor would significantly enhance this year's awards package while supporting efforts to improve agricultural productivity.

“This is a remarkable contribution that reflects genuine commitment to Ghana’s farmers. We are deeply grateful to EEZZY Group Foundation for partnering with Government to honour those who feed our nation.”

This year's 42nd National Farmers' Day celebration will be held under the theme, "Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future." Organisers say the event is expected to be the most rewarding in the history of the celebration, with support from government, the private sector and the general public aimed at recognising outstanding farmers, encouraging investment in agriculture, strengthening food security and driving Ghana's economic transformation.
