Former Bolga Central NPP Parliamentary Candidate picks nomination forms to contest Upper East NPP Chairmanship

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Elvis Atia Figo Awonekai, has officially picked up nomination forms to contest for the position of Upper East Regional Chairman of the party ahead of its upcoming regional executive elections.

Awonekai, who served as the Upper East Regional Secretary of the NPP and contested the Bolgatanga Central parliamentary seat in the 2024 general election, is seeking to lead the party as it embarks on efforts to rebuild and strengthen its structures in the region following the 2024 polls.

His decision to file for the chairmanship race follows an earlier declaration of his intention to contest the position, where he pledged to unite the party, deepen grassroots engagement, and reposition the NPP for future electoral success in the Upper East Region.

Awonekai is no stranger to the party's regional leadership, having previously served as Assistant Regional Secretary before rising to become Regional Secretary. His years of service within the party have earned him recognition among many grassroots members and executives across the region.

Political observers expect the contest for the regional chairmanship to be keenly contested as the NPP seeks new leadership to steer its affairs and prepare for future elections.
