NPP set July 19 deadline for chapter elections ahead of branch polls
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all its branches nationwide to complete outstanding chapter elections by Sunday, July 19, 2026, warning that any chapter that misses the deadline will be barred from participating in the upcoming branch elections.
The directive is part of the party's efforts to ensure strict compliance with the rules governing its 2026 internal electoral process.
In a circular issued on Wednesday, July 8, to Branch Steering Committees through Branch Secretaries, the party's Director of Finance and Administration and National Representative instructed all branches to organise any outstanding chapter elections within the stipulated timeframe.
The party stressed that chapters which fail to hold their elections by July 19 will not be eligible to participate in the Branch Elections scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026.
According to the statement, the decision is consistent with the rules and regulations for the NPP's internal elections as approved by the party's National Council.
"All Chapter Elections within your Branch are duly conducted on or before Sunday, 19 July 2026," the directive stated.
The party further instructed Branch Steering Committees to immediately communicate the directive to all Chapter Executive Committees and ensure full compliance with the timelines.
The NPP has in recent weeks intensified preparations for its 2026 internal elections, which are expected to usher in new branch, constituency and other party executives.
The party said enforcing the deadlines is necessary to safeguard the integrity of its internal electoral process and ensure that only duly constituted party structures participate in the subsequent stages of the elections.
