NPP completes constituency elections in 245 constituencies, assures resolution in outstanding areas
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has conducted constituency executive elections in 245 out of its 276 constituencies across the country, representing an 88.7 per cent success rate.
The elections, held over the weekend as part of the party's ongoing internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections, recorded delays in some constituencies due to disputes, court actions and other logistical challenges.
The constituency executive elections followed the party's earlier polling station and electoral area elections under a timetable announced by the National Secretariat.
In an update issued on Monday, July 13, the party's General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, said, "Out of the 276 constituencies, elections were successfully and peacefully conducted in 245 constituencies, representing an 88.7% success rate."
According to the statement, elections in 23 constituencies were put on hold due to various disputes, while four constituencies; Ningo Prampram, Atwima Mponua, Obuasi West and Trobu, could not hold their polls because of last-minute challenges.
The statement added that the party's National Steering Committee would review election activities in the Afigya Sekyere East, Adansi Asokwa, Bantama and Asante Akyem Central constituencies before deciding on the way forward.
"The National Secretariat remains committed to resolving all outstanding issues and ensuring the successful completion of the electoral process," the statement said.
The party also expressed appreciation to its members for what it described as their discipline and support throughout the exercise.
