Assemblies of God Ghana rallies members for National Clean-Up exercise
The Assemblies of God, Ghana has called on its pastors, members and the wider Christian community to actively participate in the nationwide clean-up exercises scheduled for Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation and reduce the risk of flooding.
In a statement issued by the church's Executive Presbytery and signed by the General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Ernest Birikorang, the church described the exercise as an important national initiative to address poor sanitation, which continues to contribute to recurrent flooding and the loss of lives and property.
The church extended its heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones in the recent floods and expressed sympathy to individuals and businesses affected by the disaster.
“Assemblies of God, Ghana, deeply condoles with families of Ghanaians and other nationals who lost their loved ones and profoundly sympathises with those whose properties were destroyed in the horrendous floods.”
The statement noted that the recurring floods underscore the urgent need for stronger political commitment and practical measures to minimise the devastating impact of flooding across the country.
It said the national clean-up exercise provides an opportunity for citizens to demonstrate a collective commitment to reversing the trend by promoting environmental cleanliness and proper sanitation practices.
“In view of this, Assemblies of God, Ghana, asks all its pastors, members and other faith-based groups to actively join the clean-up exercises in their communities.”
The church stressed that Christian faith should extend beyond personal devotion and be reflected in actions that positively impact society. It encouraged Christians and all Ghanaians to make cleanliness a daily responsibility rather than an occasional activity.
The statement further urged believers to demonstrate environmental stewardship through their actions, emphasising that good works should serve as an example to others and bring glory to God.
