One injured as Kia Rhino overturns on Accra-Kumasi Highway
One person sustained injuries after a Kia Rhino truck carrying animal feed overturned at Omenako on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, prompting a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, July 7, after which firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station arriving at the scene to rescue victims and secure the area.
The overturned truck was extensively damaged, while part of its cargo was destroyed.
However, emergency responders confirmed that no one was trapped in the wreckage.
"Firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded promptly to a road traffic accident at Omenako on the Accra–Kumasi Highway on 7th July 2026," the Ghana National Fire Service said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to the Service, preliminary information indicated that the driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid a fuel tanker that was dangerously overtaking another vehicle.
"The crew arrived to find a Kia Rhino loaded with animal feed overturned off the road after the driver reportedly lost control while avoiding an unknown fuel tanker that was wrongfully overtaking," the statement said.
