Meeting Mankind’s Energy needs: A global concern
According to Dr. Faith Birol,executive director of the international Energy Agency, energy is needed by all people in the globe This assertion by him is true because in 2015,world leaders pledged to ‘’ensure access to affordable,reliable,suistainable and modern energy for all.
However, this goal has not yet been achieved. World leaders battle with multiple challenges, not to talk of differing opinions, rising demands, fuel shortages and environmental risks. So the question I ask is, Will mankind’s energy needs ever be truly fulfilled?
Solving Mankind’s energy challenges;
Challenge: disagreements over clean energy. The world generates about 80 percent of its energy by burning fossil fuels-oil,gas,and coals.there is a believe that this contributes to global warming,Even so world leaders disagree on whether to reduce the use of fossil fuels.Moreover,even governments that want to limit their use quarrel over how to do so and how to implement clean energy policies.For example,despite signing the Paris Agreement to limit global warming,nations have struggled to reach it.
By marking small adjustments, we can make a big difference in the energy we consume;
Some considerations;
Using natural light whenever possible
Choosing energy-efficient light bulbs and appliances
Switching off lights and unplug electronic devices when not in use
In cold climates, seal in warm air by closing windows and doors, insulating pipes and draft-proofing windows and other gaps.
Adjusting your thermostat by a degree or two to use less heating or air conditioning
Wash laundry in cold water, and hang clothes to dry instead of using a dryer
Drive less,walk,cycle,carpool,or use of public transportation if possible
Drive smarter to reduce fuel consumption-drive smoothly and at lower speeds, close windows at high speeds, and ensure that tires are properly inflated.
In all these solutions,mankinds’ energy issues are best handled by Jehovah the ruler of this universe. It is only His kingdom that can tackles our energy challenges. ( Mathew 6:9-10)
