Firefighters contain blaze at Adonten Senior High School

Firefighters from the Aburi and Akropong Fire Stations have successfully contained a fire outbreak at Adonten Senior High School, preventing the flames from spreading beyond the school's science block.

According to a Facebook post by the Ghana National Fire Service on Saturday, July 4, the fire caused extensive damage to the House Master's office and a storeroom, destroying several educational and administrative materials.

"The fire destroyed the House Master's office, storeroom, and several school items, including office equipment, books, uniforms and electronic devices, while firefighters successfully salvaged library books and gardening tools," the statement said.

The Ghana National Fire Service said the prompt and coordinated response by its personnel prevented the fire from spreading to other critical facilities within the school, significantly reducing the extent of the damage.

Before firefighters arrived, staff and students reportedly made efforts to extinguish the fire but were unable to bring it under control.

No injuries or fatalities were recorded.
Authorities have begun investigations to establish the cause of the fire while assessing the full extent of the damage.
