GMet forecasts moderate rainfall over the weekend
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecast moderate rainfall across parts of the country on Friday and Saturday.
The Agency said the rains are not expected to match the intensity of the heavy downpours recorded over the past weekend and earlier this week.
Mr Frederick Cudjoe, Senior Meteorologist at GMet, said rainfall activity was expected to increase towards the weekend but would remain lower in intensity compared with Sunday and Monday's storms.
In an interview monitored by the Ghana News Agency, he said Thursday would be mostly cloudy, particularly in the morning, with chances of slight rain or drizzle in some areas.
“There are some chances of slight rain or drizzle conditions, but we are not expecting any severe rainfall activity for today,” he said.
Mr Cudjoe said there could be brief periods of sunshine in the afternoon before cloud cover returns later in the day.
He advised the public, especially those who engaged in outdoor activities, to carry umbrellas or raincoats due to possible intermittent drizzle and light rain.
Mr Cudjoe dismissed social media reports suggesting rainfall levels higher than those recently experienced, describing them as inaccurate.
“These rainfall events are not going to be of the same magnitude as what we had last Sunday and Monday,” he stressed.
Mr Cudjoe said Friday was expected to be generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain likely in the morning, afternoon and evening.
Similar weather conditions were expected to persist into Saturday, which is projected to record the highest rainfall activity within the forecast period.
