Obuasi East MCE calls for collective action to build the Ghana Ghanaians Desire

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, has called on all stakeholders to play their respective roles in rebuilding Ghana’s moral and developmental foundations to create the nation's citizens aspire to.

He made the call during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at the Freeman Methodist Church and the Obuasi East Central Mosque, both in Tutuka.

The event, which brought together religious leaders, traditional authorities and members of the public, was held on the theme, “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want.”

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Adzowu stressed that national development is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of parents, the youth, religious bodies, traditional authorities, public servants and every citizen.

He noted that Ghana's progress is closely linked to its moral values and expressed concern over what he described as the steady erosion of the country's cherished principles.

“Today, our development as a nation faces numerous challenges, including corruption, indiscipline, moral decadence, environmental degradation and the increasing erosion of our cherished values,” he said.

According to him, these challenges demonstrate that nation building cannot be left to government alone but demands collective commitment from all segments of society.

He urged Ghanaians to uphold patriotism, integrity and discipline in their daily lives to help build a stronger and more prosperous nation.

Focusing on the youth, Hon. Adzowu described them as the foundation of Ghana's future and encouraged them to reject drug abuse and other social vices.

He advised young people to embrace hard work, education and discipline while calling on religious and community leaders to provide mentorship and spiritual guidance to help them overcome the challenges they face.

The MCE also highlighted some of the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly's development interventions, particularly in the health sector, saying that delivering quality public services is an essential part of responsible leadership.

He announced the completion of key health infrastructure projects, including two health centres at Domeabra and Ayease to improve access to healthcare, modern nurses' quarters to provide accommodation for health professionals, and a fully equipped medical laboratory at Odumasi to enhance diagnostic services.

Hon. Adzowu said these investments demonstrate the Assembly's commitment to improving the welfare of residents and ensuring that public resources directly benefit local communities.

During the service, he also expressed sympathy to individuals and communities affected by the recent floods across parts of the country.

He called on Ghanaians to show solidarity with victims who have lost relatives, homes and livelihoods, while encouraging communities to support one another during the recovery process.

Reaffirming his commitment to the development of Obuasi East, Hon. Adzowu pledged to continue working with the central government and other stakeholders to accelerate sustainable development, improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for residents of the municipality.
