Companies that survive over 20 years deserve national recognition – Yaw Sakyi
Media personality and the Chief Executive Officer of De'lish Restaurant, Yaw Sakyi, has called for greater recognition of businesses that have demonstrated resilience and longevity, saying companies that have remained operational for more than two decades deserve to be celebrated for their immense contributions to Ghana's economic development.
Speaking at the media launch of the Ghana Platinum Excellence Award held at De'lish Restaurant on the premises of the University of Ghana, Mr. Sakyi commended the organisers for introducing what he described as a timely initiative that will honour institutions that have stood the test of time.
According to him, sustaining a business for over 20 years requires dedication, visionary leadership, innovation, and the ability to adapt to changing economic conditions.
"Businesses that have remained in existence for over 20 years deserve recognition because they have consistently contributed to employment creation, economic growth, and national development," he said.
Mr. Sakyi noted that the Ghana Platinum Excellence Award is an important platform that will celebrate excellence while encouraging businesses to build sustainable institutions capable of lasting for generations.
He said beyond rewarding outstanding organisations, the initiative would also promote institutional continuity, strengthen corporate leadership, and preserve Ghana's rich corporate and economic heritage.
The De'lish Restaurant CEO expressed confidence that recognising long-serving companies would inspire emerging entrepreneurs to focus on building enduring businesses instead of pursuing only short-term success.
He further urged corporate organisations, development partners, and stakeholders to support the awards scheme to ensure it becomes a credible national platform for honouring businesses whose contributions have positively impacted the country's economy.
The Ghana Platinum Excellence Award was officially launched by its Founder, veteran actor Nii Saka Brown, who said the initiative seeks to recognise organisations that have demonstrated longevity, resilience, good corporate governance, and sustained impact on Ghana's development.
The event, hosted by media personality Sokoo Hemaa (Melody Kukua Ibrahim), attracted representatives from government institutions, corporate organisations, the media, and other invited guests who pledged their support for the initiative.
The Ghana Platinum Excellence Award is expected to become an annual event dedicated to celebrating organisations whose enduring legacies continue to shape Ghana's business landscape while inspiring future generations of entrepreneurs.
