Energy Ministry, Finance Ministry align priorities to drive sector reforms — Dr Jinapor

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has stated that his Ministry is strengthening collaboration with the Ministry of Finance to accelerate reforms and improve the performance of Ghana's energy sector.

According to him, the engagement brought together the leadership of agencies under the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition to align priorities and discuss the support needed to advance key projects across the sector.

The discussions focused on ongoing reforms, strategic priorities and measures to enhance the delivery of programmes in the petroleum, power and renewable energy sectors.

"This morning, I led the leadership of our agencies under the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition to a productive engagement with the Ministry of Finance to align our priorities and chart a clear path for the sector," Dr. Jinapor wrote in a social media post on Tuesday, June 30.

He said each agency presented its strategic roadmap, highlighting ongoing reforms, priority interventions and the support required from government to fast-track implementation.

Dr. Jinapor also expressed appreciation to the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, for reaffirming the ministry's commitment to supporting the sector's objectives.

"Through stronger collaboration across Government, we are laying the foundation for a more secure energy future one that strengthens energy security, expands access, promotes investment, accelerates the clean energy transition and delivers lasting value for the people of Ghana," he stated.

The Energy Minister said the renewed collaboration is in line with President John Dramani Mahama's vision of transforming Ghana's energy sector through coordinated government action and sustained investment.
